Amanda Leggett, PhD

Dr. Leggett serves as Co-Investigator for the WeCareAdvisor study. She is a Research Assistant Professor in the Program for Positive Aging and Geriatric Psychiatry section of the Psychiatry Department at the University of Michigan. As a developmental psychologist by training now situated within a major medical center, her research program examines aging and mental health from a broad theoretical, advanced methodological, clinically relevant, and focused health services approach. She focuses on dementia caregiver burden and social and physiological stress (daily, life event and chronic stress and stress biomarkers), as well as identification of risk and protective factors (ex. sleep disturbance, stress) relating to late-life depression and cognition. She ultimately aims to move dementia caregiving toward personalized and preventive medicine by succinctly screening caregiving style and leveraging existing interventions in a targeted and efficient manner. Her transdisciplinary expertise and collaborative focus in geriatric mental health and dementia caregiving. As Co-Investigator, Dr. Leggett provides guidance as to measures and understanding the relationship between caregiver styles and technology use.
